CANPFA DISTINGUISHED SERVICE AWARD
John Mobley was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Award at the recent CANPFA annual meeting held in Westbrook, CT on October 21, 2008. CANPFA, the Connecticut Association of Not for Profit Providers for the Aging, presents this award to an individual whose “dedicated leadership, outstanding service, and personal commitment over the years has furthered the goals of CANPFA and enhanced the quality of life for the elderly we serve.”
John was cited for his strong leadership, vision, and commitment regarding elderly services, which have helped guide CANPFA and other organizations serving the senior population to prepare for the future and present needs of the senior population. His involvement as a Board member of CANPFA and as a member of AAHSA, the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, House of Delegates resulted in open dialogue and future planning regarding services for the elderly − statewide and nationally.
John’s exceptional leadership is perhaps nowhere more evident than in his recent efforts working with our state legislators to pass groundbreaking legislation enabling the creation of the first home-based life care program for seniors in Connecticut – Seabury At Home. In his remarks, he thanked the many compassionate, dedicated, and caring people on our Board for their service, support, and long-term vision. He also praised the contributions of Seabury’s leadership team (many of whom were in attendance) and concluded by thanking the “true heroes that made this award possible – the employees back at Seabury carrying out the day - to - day duties of providing care and services to residents.”
